Film Is Giving Way to TV
This graph shows the change in the number of people who go to fihns and who watch TV from 1975 to 1985. As is seen clearly, the number of people going to films is on the decline while that of the people watching TV is on the increase. We can thus come to the conclusion that film is giving way to TV.
There are many reasons for this change. The first reason is that TV is becoming a commonplace in people's lives. Almost every family has one TV set, and some even have more than one set under the same roof. The second reason is that there are a wide variety of channels and an even wider choice of programs on TV. People can watch whatever they like at any moment on TV. The lasr reason is that, nowadays, people are much busier than they used to be, so they don't like to take the trouble to spare some time going to fi[ms.
Despite the great decrease in the number of fihn goers, there are still some people who prefer to go to films. Convenient as TV is, it can't match the film in both picture and sound effect. Besides, going to a film is a kind of social activity, which makes one feel that he is not isolated from the society.
